20XX. A virus is known as Roboenza infects robots, rendering them worthless. Humanity would be powerless without their robot assistants, but the worst is yet to come! The second stage of the disease forces afflicted robots to revolt against their enslavers and attempt to take over the globe! Dr. Wily claims to have created a medicine-making machine to cure the epidemic, but the berserk robots have taken it. Mega Man must battle eight vicious robots to rescue the machine and save the world.
Mega Man 10 maintains the 8-bit graphics design and gameplay of its predecessor, Mega Man 9, and the vintage NES titles. The player must jump, run, and shoot his way through eight stages filled with robotic enemies, defeat the Robot Master after each step, and seize his weapon to use against other adversaries.
Mega Man can’t slide or charge his weapon like he could in Mega Man 3 and 4, but you can play as Proto Man, who has both of these skills and his signature shield to block projectiles – but Proto Man gets twice the damage from opponent strikes. Bass will also be playable as a downloadable character, able to shoot his rifle at 45-degree angles.
This game, like Mega Man 9, includes a Time Attack mode and Challenges, in which the player must race against the clock or win the game under specified criteria, such as never dying or defeating all bosses using only the standard Mega Buster weapon. There are also several Challenge Rooms in the game, where the player must clear a room under different circumstances specified at the start of the Challenge.
