Strange events started to take place in the kingdom of King Tycoon when the winds began to stop blowing as well as the sun was obscured, creating an unprecedented murky scene. The first part of the game is the scene that summarizes the situation which is happening, and it is mostly exposed later in order to explore freely. From the very beginning, players were able to create a four-member squad, with three previously introduced characters: Lena, Bartz, Galuf, and a pirate captain who appeared shortly after. Their journey crosses every continent of the world, searching for the Exdeath sorcerer and preventing the crystals from being destroyed.
