Tom is a 12-year-old boy, he lives in the city with his parents. During the summer holidays, their family traveled together in Mineral Town and that was probably the most memorable memory of his life. As a naughty boy, Tom himself went around the places in Mineral Town and got lost to an old man’s farm. The old man contacted his parents to bring him home. Before leaving, he left Tom’s address and told him to keep in touch regularly. For a long time, Tom didn’t receive any letters from the old man, which made him feel a bit worried, so he decided to visit the farm and find out what happened. Unfortunately, the Old Man died and asked the mayor to send a will which is about leaving Tom his farm. To grieve for his old friend, he decided to stay here and continue to build his unfinished career.

At the beginning of the game, the system provides a small amount of money for players to buy seeds and some animals for the farm. However, the farm seemed to have been abandoned for quite some time, so it was dirty and needed cleaning before actually starting a farmer’s job. There are two goals that need to be set in careers: farming and animal husbandry.

Regarding cultivation: With tools provided such as axes, hoes, hammers, sickles, and watering cans, replant small plots and make them nutritious before planting. After that, visit the store and buy the available seeds like strawberries, pumpkins, corn, tomatoes,… and more. They all have different growth times and give different outputs. If the player is free, often on the game, please plant short-term crops, because it will be able to earn more money. Vice versa, grow long-term crops to save time for harvesting. Each time harvesting crops, players will receive experience points to level up, paving the way for unlocking new features in the future, including new varieties. Regarding animal husbandry, Harvest Moon – Friends Of Mineral Town has three popular animals: cow, chicken, and sheep. In which cows will provide milk, chickens lay eggs, and sheep provide feathers to create clothing products. Players can use these crops to cook and serve for personal purposes, or can sell to make money.

Chickens live in the coop, which means the player must build a coop, but their initial capacity can only accommodate up to 4 chickens, hence, upgrade them to a maximum of 8. It is also possible to create egg incubators for chicks to be hatched. Similarly, cows and sheep are kept in cages which can be upgraded to a maximum of 16. Players are required to feed them whenever they are hungry, while chickens can be released and do not need to be fed. However, if players do not look after carefully, the wolves will eat all of the chickens. Therefore, limit the release of chickens and buy a dog to keep watch over the farm.
