Battles in Super Street Fighter II: Turbo Revival takes place in 3 rounds, based on the countervailing mechanism. The compete will stop as well as move on to the next opponent if the player earns 2 points. The gameplay of this game focuses basically on the player’s control skills, although the later the stages are, the more difficult it will increase, not in terms of strength, but about skillfulness. They need to move more quickly, know how to dodge attacks, and create combos with great damage more often to defeat the opponent.

In terms of skills, characters can use basic attacks such as punching, kicking, shuttlecock (Dolliyo Chagi), split stone (Naeryo Chagi), or spinning kick (Bituereo Chagi). But when combining them to create Air Combo or Super Combo attacks, the damage and effectiveness level will be increased significantly by many times that the enemy cannot even respond and be in a passive state, unable to attack. Sometimes, the task of destroying objects is also given, in which the creation of these combos is necessary because the system is limited to a short time, about 30 seconds to complete. In addition, the system also allows you to choose the level before starting a battle: medium, Turbo 1, 2, or 3, corresponding to the skill level of the opponent that the player wants to face.

Some available characters that players can choose when starting the game are Ryu, Ken, and Akuma. The collection of the remaining 16 characters will be unlocked by using awards or completing some later stages. Each of them has their own skills and abilities. Some are more agile while launching attacks, and some are well dodged, others are able to inflict more significant damage but are reduced in speed. However, one thing in common, anyone can use special skills when the energy meter at the bottom of the screen is filled. Dhalsim spews fire to burn enemies from afar distance, Blanka discharges electricity causing the enemy to be stunned for a short period of time, or Ryu can shoot fireballs.

In the second version of the series, the developer added six new characters and improved the performance of several others in the old version, typically is Akuma. He almost plays a role in replacing Ryu, as in most of the essential battles, he is much stronger. When Ryu can only fire a fireball while fighting, he can cause 3 or 4, and even in the air.
