A vertical version of the shoot-em-up game that was initially released for the Naomi Arcade. Ikaruga is a video game for the Sega Saturn that is essentially a sequel to Radiant Silvergun.

During gameplay, the player must alternate between his ship’s black and white sides, as the game is based on a two-color system. The white side can kill the black side instantly, but the black side is immune to white enemy bullets, which it views as a bonus. The white side can destroy the black side. White enemies take twice as much damage from your black bullets as your white shells. And the opposite holds for the white side. These characteristics balance effectively protecting yourself and quickly eliminating your foes.

Ikaruga is an innovative take on the shoot-em-up genre thanks mainly to this facet of the gameplay, the distinct enemy patterns, and the combo system.
