In the sixth installment of the fighting series, players must fight again to stop this new threat based on the Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance engine. The standard Arcade, Versus, and Practice modes are back, as are new items in the Krypt. New Konquest Adventure, Chess Kombat, and Puzzle Kombat methods provide the player with unique mini-games.
At the start of the game, you can choose from a dozen Mortal Kombat fighters, including old favorites and mysterious newcomers. Longtime Mortal Kombat fans will recognize veterans like Sub-Zero and Scorpion, Kabal, Baraka, Mileena, Ermac, and Nightwolf and relative newcomers like Bo’Rai Cho, who debuted in Deadly Alliance. Ashrah, Dairou, Darrius, Havik, Hotaru, Kira, Shujinko, Onaga, and Kobra are among the nine new fighters introduced in the game, each with a distinct fighting style designed to balance the lethal abilities of the other characters.
The Playstation 2 and Xbox versions allow you to compete against other players online. The Gamecube version lacks online play but includes Goro and Shao Kahn as exclusive playable characters.
