This is a modified version of the game that can be played simultaneously by up to 4 players. Olimar, Louis, the President, and Olimar’s spouse are the playable characters.
Captain Olimar has returned safely to his home after making it through a perilous planet in the first Pikmin, only to learn that his employer, Hocotate Freight, has filed for bankruptcy. Olimar and his helper Louie now travel back to the planet of the Pikmin, a planet that is very similar to Earth, in order to save the business. In order to save Hocotate Freight from bankruptcy, they must find and bring back as many treasures as they can.
The gameplay is comparable to the prior game. Louie or Olimar are under your control, but you can’t really do much on your own. The Pikmin, a creature that resembles a plant and lives on this planet, can be ordered to assist. The Pikmin are capable of a variety of jobs, including moving obstacles, fighting, and bringing loot back to your ship. Each type of Pikmin has unique skills and traits (red Pikmin are immune to fire, blue Pikmin can swim, yellow Pikmin can be thrown far, purple Pikmin are stronger, and white Pikmin are quick and poisonous to enemies if these eat these). There are many different varieties of Pikmin. You can control up to 100 Pikmin at once, and to find treasure and get past the numerous dangerous obstacles and creatures, you’ll need to take advantage of each type of Pikmin’s special abilities.
Along with the story mode, there is also a two-player game mode. One player controls red Pikmin while the other controls blue in this game mode. The objective is to either steal marbles from your opponent or to be the first player to collect four marbles.
