King Quest V is an adventure game released in November 1990 by Sierra On-Line. In the beginning of the game, a cloaked figure suddenly appears in front of a castle. He used some kind of magic to make a tornado appear. After the tornado passed, the castle was gone from your sight. During the incident, a man named King Graham was not in the castle. He was hunting in a forest far from the castle and was the only royal who did not disappear along with the others in the lineage. After returning to the castle, he finds it mysteriously gone. At this time, King Graham met a talking parrot named Cedric.
Cedric parrot witnessed the whole attack of the robed character who broken into his castle. Cedric informed King Graham that the man who took the castle was an evil and powerful witch named Mordack. Afterwards, Cedric led King Graham to a land called Serenia to seek help. This is Crispin’s residence and he is also a witch. However, Crispin is a good sorcerer who specializes in helping people with his magic. Players will face a number of challenges before reaching Crispin’s whereabouts. After hearing King Graham tell the whole story, Crispin gave him some measures to help. Crispin gives King Graham a magic wand that allows him to use some magic and a white snake to help Graham communicate with animals.
After passing some missions, you will know that Mordack is Manannan’s brother – the name that was turned into a cat in King Quest III by King Graham’s son Prince Alexander. In revenge for his younger brother, Mordack stole King Graham’s castle and killed all his family. You will have to control the character to cross the Serenia region to collect items and useful information on the character’s journey. After collecting all the items, you will find your way to the island of Mordack and to his lair to save King Graham’s family before the death occurs.
Accompanying the player in the whole game is the Cedric parrot. It will give you tips and guide players before dangerous areas. This parrot will also save King Graham at the end of the game. At the last level, thanks to the help of Mordack’s prisoners. You will confront Mordack in a magic match that King Graham learned from Crispin. After defeating the evil sorcerer, Cispin arrives and returns the castle to its original location. The game ends here.
