Popeye is an adventure game released by Nintendo in 1982. The game was developed based on an animated film of the same name. Popeye revolves around the fight to win the affection of Olive Oyle between Popeye and Brutus.
In the game, players will control Popeye to start the journey to collect some items that Olive dropped. He must pass five levels with many obstacles to complete his mission. Players can choose the difficulty level of the game and the number of players before the game starts. Popeye must collect hearts, music notes and letters that Olive Oyl dropped. In the first level, he is taken to a room with many stairs. Olive is at the top of that room and constantly dropping hearts. Popeye will move quickly to collect it before that heart falls into the water. Brutus, an enemy of Popeye with weapons as axes. He kept chasing and preventing Popeye from picking up his heart. Popeye will use the ladders available in the room to avoid attacks from Brutus. Additionally, Popeye can jump and create a kick to attack Brutus again. The first level to finish with victory belongs to Popeye when he collects 24 hearts.
The notes are items that Popeye must collect in the next stage. Olive stands on a building and drops music notes down the floor of the building. Popeye continues to collect these notes with the familiar enemy of Brutus. The level is complete when he collects all 16 notes. In the third level, Popeye is taken to a large boat along with Brutus and Olive. A new enemy that Popeye must dodge in this level is a bird that constantly moves to attack him. He will collect the letters Olive dropped from the top of the boat. If Popeye collides with a bird or Brutus, he will fall into the water and have to start the level again.
A new enemy appearing in the last two stages of the game is a monster with the ability to throw multiple skulls to attack Popeye. That monster will stand in line with Olive. He has to move flexibly to dodge the skulls and avoid the attack from Brutus to collect enough hearts. The game ends when Popeye completes five levels of the game. Players can increase the difficulty to challenge themselves before the tasks of the game.
