Shadow of the Ninja is an adventure action game developed by Natsume for Nintendo in 1990. The game was released in Europe and Australia with the name Shadow of the Ninja.
In 2029, an evil king, Garuda, invaded the United States. He built a strong stronghold in the middle of New York City as a base. To prevent the invasion of Garuda and revenge for the people he killed. The two best ninjas from Lord Hayate and Lady Kaede were summoned. They are tasked with infiltrating the carefully protected stronghold of the evil king Garuda and killing him.
The game has 2 modes including one player mode and two players. In two-player mode, one will control Hayate (the ninja in purple) and the other will control Kaede (the yellow-dressed ninja). When starting the game, you will have to choose the character you want to control. The basic abilities of a character include running, crouching, climbing stairs, attacking and jumping just like other Nintendo action games. You can also control the character to bend and run to avoid attacks from enemies from afar. You can unleash a powerful attack on the opponent when the character’s HP is over 50%. This skill will deal damage to all enemies in its path and the enemy will be destroyed instantly. However, your HP will be depleted depending on the time you use this skill. You will not be able to use this special skill when the hp is below 50%.
The character’s default weapon will be a Katana or a Kusarigama. However, it can only deal with the highest damage to enemies at a long distance and does not deal with damage with the Katana at close range. If the player picks up a weapon that he or she already has, that weapon’s attack power will be stronger. In addition, players also have the ability to use weapons including shuriken and grenades. There are item boxes scattered along the way in levels. When opening these items, it can appear weapons and contain potions to recover the lost HP. You will have to fight many different types of enemies at each level. After defeating all enemies, a boss will appear at the end of each level. If you want to go to the next level, you will have to destroy this boss. If you let a character die, then you will have to replay that level.
