Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar is an outstanding game in the role-playing action genre on the Nintendo platform. The game was designed by Richard Garriott and was released in 1985. The plot tells the renaissance of the world after the defeat of the dark forces in the previous installments. However, the previous brutal wars caused the continent to change more or less. Part of the world has disappeared, several new continents have been formed in place of some of the submerged areas of the ocean. Fortunately, Britannia retains its original appearance. Peace, prosperity, and unity came to the great continent of Britannia under the rule of the great Lord British. Living in peace for so long made his king fearful: people will become weak and easily led by the forces of darkness, arouse new wars. Lord British created Quest of the Avatar and selected a person he trusted to overcome this task. The one chosen by the king will have to travel the world to find the truth for the eight qualities of a human being so that everyone can follow them. When found, that person will become an avatar that allows access to the Great Stygian Abyss to learn knowledge that has never been known and then spread to humans.

Unlike previous games, players in Ultima IV will handle difficult situations with all eight virtues and answer them to a fortune teller using tarot cards. Most of them are open situations, depending on the interests and goals of the player, you have to rank the virtues, that order will determine the type of character you will play the role. Although each character type has its own unique characteristics, but to become an avatar, the player must try to achieve all eight virtues. Such qualities include honesty, compassion, courage, justice, sacrifice, honor, spirituality, and humility. The first thing you have to do is find the characteristics of eight virtues by talking to people. Each conversation can give you a few suggestions. In addition, you also need to learn them in the cities, towns and even the castle of the King of Britannia. At the same time, finding the symbols of the three principles: The Truth Book, The Candle of Love and the Bell of Courage are also part of the journey. You can combine these three principles in different ways to find a chart depicting seven of the eight virtues. Looking for the final virtue: Modesty is a little more difficult. You will have to pay attention to many details outside the three principles in order to find out the truth about this quality.
