And Yet It Moves is a platform game with some aspects of puzzle games, and the game’s purpose is simply to finish each level. The unique part of this game is that in addition to the standard controls (moving left and right and jumping), the player can rotate the game’s world by ninety degrees in any direction. This allows for multiple avenues of investigation into the surrounding environment. Although it is possible to finish a level without using the movement keys, this feature is primarily utilized for the puzzles in the game. The player must eliminate foes by repositioning objects in the environment, control a shadow character whose actions mirror those of the player, or complete intricate sequences of platform-hopping, including bouncing ledges and swings, to progress. The character’s velocity can be boosted to dizzying heights by rapidly rotating. Still, he will be killed if he crashes into the ground at an excessive speed or after falling an extreme distance.

There is a checkpoint after each segment, and the number of attempts at each level is not limited. Regarding the player’s character and every item in the environment, the graphic style is envisioned as a universe of paper cut-outs, and this holds for the environment as well. There are also a variety of themes for the levels, some of which include fire, the jungle, and rocks. The overall experience is broken up into three primary acts and one epilogue. In addition to the primary game mode, the levels can be played in a race against other players to see who can complete them in the shortest time. This mode has worldwide high-score leaderboards and ghosts of previous players.

When compared to the original PC release, the version available on the Wii features three additional levels.
