Tetris Party is a WiiWare variant of the popular game of Tetris that includes new modes such as Co-op Tetris and Duel Spaces. The regular Tetris mode contains a ghost shape at the bottom of the screen that shows where the block will land, the following four blocks, and the ability to hold a block for later use.
The single-player options include Marathon, Computer Battle, Field Climber, Shadow, and Stage Racer.
Marathon is a never-ending game in which you must collect as many lines as possible. The only difference is that you play against a computer opponent. Field Climber is a Lemmings-style game with gameplay similar to Tetris Plus. A little person walks across the screen; you must assist him in climbing to the top by setting out blocks to construct steps, but be careful not to squish him. Shadow is a game where you must use blocks to fill a shadow figure. It would be best to attempt to achieve a perfect overlap with no blocks outside the silhouette. Stage Racer requires moving a single block down a vertically scrolling screen. Move and rotate it to avoid being trapped since the game is finished if it contacts the top of the screen.
The following multiplayer games are available: VS Battle, VS Field Climber, VS Hot Lines, VS Shadow, Co-op Tetris, and Duel Spaces.
Battle variants of the single-player games include VS Battle, VS Field Climber, VS Hot Lines, and VS Shadow. You can acquire power-ups that temporarily freeze your opponent’s game or prevent them from rotating their blocks. In VS Hot Lines, you must clear specific green lines that are not always at the bottom of the screen. Removing a green line causes it to vanish; remove all green lines to win the game. Co-op Tetris and Duel Spaces are played in a broader, 20-block-wide arena. Two players collaborate to build lines in Co-op Tetris. Duel Spaces is a game in which two players take turns dumping tetrominoes. Each player must aim to capture as much grid area as possible by sealing off-grid sections.
You can also use Wi-Fi to play online in World Battle or Friend Battle, and you can use the Wii Balance Board to play.
