Even though the ESPN license is used in the game’s name, this is the next installment in Sega’s NFL 2K series.

There are many different game modes available in ESPN NFL Football. These modes include first-person football, quick game, franchise, season, tournament, practice, and internet play. The franchise mode is the one that offers the most content overall in the game. This mode lets you play one season after another and includes draft and off-season player negotiations, such as signing and dismissing players. These transactions are governed by the fundamental laws of the NFL, which have trade deadlines and salary caps.

Another one of the brand new additions to ESPN NFL Football is a virtual residence that goes by the name ‘The Crib.’ The Crib is where you can display all of the bonus stuff and awards you’ve earned by achieving specific goals in the game. The plans range from relatively straightforward tasks, such as viewing particular items in the game’s menu, playing for one hour, and playing for five hours, to more involved feats, such as returning a punt or kick for 99 yards or completing a game without losing any passes. These are just a few examples of the objectives that can be achieved. You will receive a trophy or an item that may be used to decorate your nursery for each aim that you successfully achieve. These objects range from bobbleheads and cheat codes for use within the game to alternatively styled pieces of furniture like couches and bar stools. In addition, it is possible to locate hidden free agents such as Michael Irvin and posters and soundtracks from older Sega games such as Jet Set Radio and earlier versions of NFL 2K.

This game also has a first-person football mode as an additional addition. The purpose of this setup was to provide you with a simulation of the feeling you would get while competing on the field.

Once more, Chris Berman provides commentary in the style of ESPN for the audio track.
