Gran Turismo 4: Prologue is a stripped-down version of the full-fledged racing video game Gran Turismo 4, which was released later. Even though it is a complete game in its own right, this game is nothing more than an extended showcase of what players may look forward to in the full version of Gran Turismo 4.
The game offers two different gameplay modes:
- Arcade has been updated with five fresh new courses, four of which are tarmac and one of which is a rally circuit. The player can compete against other people or the clock in this mode. The School Mode is where the action of the game takes place. Players can earn new vehicles by accomplishing the tasks in this section.
- School Mode is the same as the License Mode in the previous games. In this game, the player is challenged to finish a predetermined number of laps, a portion of the track, or the entire course within the allotted time. The player is given a score of either gold, silver, bronze, or fail.
