Gran Turismo 4 Spec II is a mod that enriches the Gran Turismo 4 experience, offering a number of significant fixes and improvements. Its main goal is to refine the game, while incorporating some modernized features and options ideal for challenges.

Gameplay:

Randomization of prize cars can be activated, with seed based on username.
Added an event synthesizer with adjustable difficulty.
New Driving Missions 35-40.
Over 15 new events in various event halls.
Tighter restrictions on some events to encourage the use of different cars and strategies.
Road cars start with road tires instead of Sport Medium.
Added Valencia Tourist Trophy Circuit to Arcade Mode and Event Synthesizer.
Cars can now be repainted in GT Auto.
Manufacturer and partner tuner wheels now available for most cars in GT Auto.
Changes to used car stock at dealerships for various weeks.
Dealership discounts for certain weeks.
Significantly shortened the β€œ1,000 Miles!” race and renamed it to Grand Tour.
Reduced the number of races and/or laps in certain overly repetitive events (e.g. 2CV Championship and Special Conditions Show).
Changed the tracks for some existing events to offer a fresh experience.
All cars and tracks available in arcade mode by default, including Citta di Aria in career modes.
Changed the unlock criteria for Extreme Events from completing the GT World Championship to completing the International Championship B.
Lowered the unlock criteria for Endurance Events from 25% to 20%.
Rebalanced some driving missions and licenses to compensate for changes to GT4 Online physics.
Changed the prize cars for most events (manually selected, present when randomizer is disabled).
Added the ability to assign up/down gear shifts to R3 up/down.
Stiffness Refresh Plan now scales at 25% of the car’s value, up to a maximum of 35,000 Cr.
Added Full Restoration, restoring condition and mileage to like-new, scales at 50% of the car’s value, up to a maximum of 250,000 Cr.
Rally cars now have Dirt and Snow tires unlocked by default.

General Improvements/Additions:

Engine sounds improved for over 400 cars, with over 130 new recordings.
Transmission and tire skidding sound effects improved in races.
New color options added to several cars.
Original Esso variants of Exxon cars restored.
Added the ’98 Mini Cooper 1.3i.
Added the ’05 Mazda MX-5 from the MX-5 demo version.
Added Korea-exclusive models: Hyundai Click Type-R ’04, TiburΓ³n Turbulence ’99, and Tuscani CCS ’03.
Added the Korea-exclusive Lexus IS200 GT-1 Race Car ’04.
Restored regional equivalents of cars such as Vauxhalls and Toyota Altezzas.
Added the stripeless ’04 FPV GT.
Ford GT ’05 without stripes now available for purchase at the Ford Dealership.
Fixed physics data for many cars, including the Lister Storm, Gillet Vertigo, VW Golf GTi ’05 and several kei cars.
Added engine names to the spec sheets for most cars.
Removed the tilt effect on the bumper camera and blurred crash effects.
HDTV (480p) settings are now saved, avoiding the need to set them every time.

New Options:

Global car assistance overrides (no longer need to adjust ASM and TCS per car).
Gran Turismo 3-style chase camera on/off.
Roof, bonnet and interior cameras on/off.
HUD analogue or digital gauges on/off in all camera views.
Expanded Race Options menu to allow individual adjustment of HUD elements.
Multiple language selection restored from PAL version of Gran Turismo 4.
Highlight cars you own at dealerships.

User Interface Improvements:

Refreshed car dealership layout, with larger and more accurate brochure images for all dealerships.
Added a Quick Menu in SELECT for easy access to common functions.
Improved 16:9 scaling in several menus.
Increased username character limit to 30, with improved keyboard allowing for numbers, spaces, and special characters.
Added R3 camera zoom in dealerships and garage.
Added dealership descriptions for most cars.
Fixed inconsistent spacing and character spacing in car and track names.
Current week of used car cycle now displayed in status menu alongside current day.
Added count and percentage of distinct cars owned in status menu.
L1/R1 can be used to advance/backward 10 items in GT Auto car and wheel selection menus.
Added display/sorting of Length, Displacement and Engine Type in the Garage.
Added Typical Opponents button on the race selection screen.
GT Mode shortcut to jump to GT Auto by pressing L2.
GT Mode shortcut to jump to Tuner Village by pressing R2 (if a tuner exists for the current car).
Quick access to the Garage when viewing event restrictions.
Secret and Monitor settings in Options have been enabled without the need for a button combo.
Manufacturers are now sorted alphabetically in the Garage menu.
Added additional details about the game state in the start menu.

Note: Cheats for the game still work as in the normal version, but due to the addition of the Quick Menu, existing cheat combos have been modified to avoid using the SELECT button. You can view the new button combos from the following link: http://tiny.cc/owfpzz.

Emulator Cheats also still work, but since this mod makes extensive changes to the disk image and the game executable, a new CRC hash has been generated. Therefore, you only need to rename your Cheats to start with the new CRC hash for Spec II: 73FEFB84.

Cheats for 480p, GT3-style chase camera, and trigger sensitivity scaling are already integrated into this mod. It is no longer necessary to use emulator cheats for these settings.
