Three years after the events in the first Gungrave, the Corsione family has made the potentially lethal medicine SEED available to the general public. Grave, Spike, and Mika must now follow the trail of SEED back to its origin to destroy it for good.
Gungrave: Overdose, much like its predecessor, features a variety of action-packed levels that do not permit the player to take their finger off the fire button at any point in the story. This sequel ups the ante by including even larger hordes of opponents for the player to slaughter and a multitude of destructible surroundings in which the player can wreak havoc and cause mayhem. Grave will eventually form an alliance with newcomers Juji and Billy along the road. While Billy uses the sheer force of his electric guitar to defeat his foes, Juji employs a novel method of combat that combines close-range gunplay and swordplay.
Character designs for Gungrave: Overdose was created by Yasuhiro Nightow, the creator of the anime/manga Trigun, and Kosuke Fujishima, known for his work on Sakura Wars, Ah My Goddess, and the Tales series. Tsuneo Imahori, who composed the soundtracks for Trigun, Hajime no Ippo, and the Gungrave anime series, was responsible for the soundtrack composition. Mastiff is accountable for publishing this game, classified as a low-cost title.
