Ice Age 2: The Meltdown is a video game that is only tangentially related to the first film of the same name. The game takes place in prehistoric times, and you play the role of Scrat, the hapless (but not completely helpless!) proto-squirrel, who is tasked with assisting his buddies in evading a massive flood that is on its way.
The WASD buttons on your keyboard will move you forward, backward, left, and right in the Windows version of the game, while the mouse will control the camera movement and some actions. Scrat can perform several unique moves, including a ground stomp, a roll attack, a double jump, a ground sniff, and a double jump. His ground sniff can be effective for breaking the ice. Most gameplay involves searching for acorns and other unique nuts to restore lost health or unlock additional game features. You can play as Sid, speeding through an ice slide while avoiding obstacles; there’s also penguin-bowling and a mini-game where you “shoot” at monkeys to retrieve a walnut that was snatched out from under your nose; these are just some of the mini-games that are included in the main game.
