The long-running Madden NFL series received yet another annual upgrade with the release of Madden NFL 09 this year. Since the series’ primary focus has shifted to the next-gen versions, the version for PS2 and Xbox is geared toward new and casual players by introducing new and more straightforward controlling choices. In addition, it reuses and improves the modes seen in earlier chapters of the series.
Play Now, Franchise, Superstar, Fantasy Challenge, and Skill Drills are some modes that have been brought back. Quick demonstration games with simplified controls and various play options are now possible thanks to the new Family Play option. The QB Avoidance Stick is a new control option for experienced gamers, and it allows quarterbacks to escape defenders by moving the analog stick in specific directions. Players can go ahead to the next play, change of possession, quarter, or even the end of the game by utilizing the Super Sim function. The Franchise mode has been updated to include the Franchise Decades system. In this system, the player’s progression across the seasons is represented by a numerical score. The Fantasy Challenge game mode consists of three teams for players to compete against.
