MLB 2K5 is the first game in the series of 2K games, and it succeeded ESPN Major League Baseball as the official baseball video game licensed by Sega. This one has undergone a comprehensive makeover and features new control schemes and a graphics engine. It adds a lot more detail to the players, stadiums, weather, and even the cut scenes, plus it comes with all-new animations.
It also contained the compulsory updated roster in addition to the standard game types such as exhibition, season, and home run derby. Additionally, it had internet capabilities that could handle up to thirty players. ESPN was also engaged and lent its name to the competition, which they televised in its signature style with commentators Jon Miller, Joe Morgan, and Karl Ravech.
