In the third game in the Metal Slug series, General Morden returns; this time, he has ambitious aspirations to create a new global order. The player controls one of four heroes—Marco, Tarma, Eri, or Fio—as they fight through a series of side-scrolling stages, each of which has its distinct motif and is packed with many foes and monsters. The game’s objective is to rescue captives, and the player has access to various odd vehicles, including camels, elephants, tanks, and robots.
After completing the five arcade stages in the Xbox version of the game, players can unlock new game modes, such as “Storming the Mothership” and “Chubby Isle Paradiso.” There is a co-op option available. However, there is no online multiplayer available. The only available Xbox Live function enables players to compare their single-player scores with those of other players.
