The game MTV: Music Generator 2 continues the series that began with MTV: Music Generator and Music. In the same vein as the two games that came before it, it gives the user a setting where they can compose their own music using different samples, riffs, synthesizers, and filters. It includes 10,000 samples and 1200 riffs out of the box. Fourteen tunes have been licensed to be included, and some of the bands that contributed are Apollo 440, Funkmaster Flex, David Morales, and Gorillaz. The player has the option of creating their 3D visualizers to go along with the music.
Generating music includes using samples, modifying and adding notes, creating chords using a virtual keyboard, and adding effects, including volume pan envelopes, reverberation, and delays. A microphone can be used to add vocals, and existing CDs can be sampled to incorporate into new songs.
