Savage Skies is a video game for the PlayStation 2 that focuses on dragon combat in the air. With a fantasy-based setting, this game offers a broad variety of features, including a challenging single-player level, split-screen multiplayer, and unlockable unique modes, quests, and characters.
The events in Savage Skies revolve around the assassination of a powerful king brought low by the vengeful demons of a necromancer who had been expelled from the realm many years previously. The player is tasked with restoring the kingdom after the king’s soul is magically broken, and the land is thrown into chaos. This can be accomplished by the player winning the war on behalf of one of the game’s three factions: the virtuous Virtwyn, the mutant Chrysalis, or the necromantic Pariah. The player is presented with the various components of the tale as the game progresses through mission-based animations and voiceovers.
Famous 3D aerial combat and shooting games like Starfighter, Flying Heroes, and DragonStrike inspire the gameplay. Still, it also incorporates its unique elements, such as more advanced super moves and power-ups. Both the single-player and multiplayer components of Savage Skies provide players the opportunity to discover and experiment with a wide variety of playable monsters (up to 24 in total). During the campaign, you can use its various abilities—such as a creature’s speed, maneuverability, and attacking and defensive powers.
Fun two-player split-screen action is also included in Savage Skies, with seven distinct multiplayer maps and three different multiplayer game styles.
