This game’s events occur shortly after those recounted in the series’ first edition. The player once again assumes the role of Raidou Kuzunoha, the 14th, the youngest in a long line of demon summoners. Japan was in the Taisho period (the 1920s), and supernatural powers attacked the Capital City again. Raidou works as an undercover detective at the Narumi Detective Agency, solving cases with mysterious backstories. It all starts when a young woman walks into the office and requests the detective to locate a missing male…
The game is part of a series dedicated to generations of demon summoners, part of the Megaten meta-series. The basic gameplay is action-oriented, like in the first Raidou Kuzunoha game. Raidou uses swords or guns to assault his enemies, but he will need the assistance of his demonic companions to overcome them. Raidou may summon two demons to aid him in combat (as compared to one in the original game). The main difference in gameplay is that instead of simply weakening enemies to capture them, as was the case in the first game, Raidou now has to talk to hostile demons and persuade them to join his party, reintroducing the long-running Megaten tradition of demon negotiations as an integral part of gameplay.
