After finishing training as a member of the Force, Max returns to his hometown to reunite with his family and learn more about what happened to his brother. Subsequently, the town is assaulted by creatures later suspected of being relics of the Legion. At the same time, a mysterious figure that appears to be familiar with his brother also appears. Max is compelled to investigate the threat posed by the Legion for these reasons, throughout which he maintains the hope that he may also locate his brother.
Shining Force: Neo is a “hack-and-slash” role-playing game from a third-person perspective. The player assumes control of Max, the game’s primary protagonist, and can bring a maximum of two allies (out of a total of eleven) into the group to assist him in completing his objective. Eventually, Max and his friends will develop their “Force” powers, allowing them to grow their RPG characters into either a Fighter or a Mage sort of character. Customizing items (weapons, armor, etc.) is another option through the Force Arts. Later in the game, the players will also be able to teleport between select locations and their headquarters in the starting town.
