Shox is a racing video game for arcades featuring rally cars and off-road tracks. There is only one style of play available for solo players: the league. There are four leagues, each containing six races, and the complexity of the companies increase from one to the next. To advance to the next block, a player must finish first in the average of all six races. However, there is a unique selling point: the shox zones. Each race has three of these zones, and the player must race across them as quickly as possible. If he wins the gold medal in all three events, a shock wave will be generated, making it difficult to maintain control of the vehicle. The objective is maintaining contact with the wave for as long as possible. These successes result in monetary rewards, which are reinvested into brand-new automobiles (of which four classes exist). However, the player must exercise caution because there is a penalty for colliding with either their opponents or the edge. If a player wants to win money more quickly, they should consider placing a wager on a race versus a single adversary.
The vehicles have their licenses, and the races occur in three distinct environments: the Arctic Tundra, the Arid Desert, and the Asian Jungle.
