Sonic Heroes is a 3D action platformer in which the player controls a squad of three characters, each with a unique skill such as speed, flight, or power. The game aims to beat monsters and collect rings rapidly while racing through levels. Your time calls to form a point system, opponents are defeated, and more points equal a higher rank on the deck. There are four teams of characters, each with their own set of gameplay changes:
The intermediate difficulty features Sonic (speed), Tails (flying), and Knuckles (power).
Shadow (speed), Rogue (fly), and E-123 Omega (power) make up Team Shadow on the hard difficulty.
Amy (speed), Cream (fly), and Big (power) make up Team Rose on the easy difficulty.
With Espio (speed), Charmy (fly), and Vector (power), Team Chaotix has new mission-based objectives.
The game has four modes:
Plot Mode allows players to travel through stages as the plot progresses.
Challenge Mode will enable players to replay scenes they have already cleared in Story Mode.
Battle Mode is a multiplayer mode where players can race or battle each other. Tutorial Mode teaches novices the fundamentals of the game.
