The action of Soul Nomad & the World Eaters, a hybrid strategy and role-playing game, takes place in Prodesta, a region where conflict has been raging for thousands of years and has left the earth in ruins. The story revolves around Gig, the Master of Death, a terrible god who in the past attempted to destroy the planet using beings that he controlled, who were known as the planet Eaters. Gig is the protagonist of this tale. In the end, the forces of good were able to defeat Gig, who was imprisoned within an obsidian blade and secreted away in a nearby village.
The player takes on the role of a young boy or girl who lives in this small town. Upon reaching an appropriate age, they are handed this sword, allowing Gig to control their body. However, the protagonist’s will is strong, and Gig cannot control them completely.
“Rooms” are pocket dimensions that can be accessed at any moment and used to hold and manage unit squads. These rooms can be decorated with decorations that grant sure buffs to the confined team, while the rooms can be modified to give specific stat bonuses to the main character. Additionally, the components can be arranged into a variety of different configurations. Each team also has a leader who plays an essential role since the entire team is considered to have failed if they are vanquished.
The combat system places the attackers and defenders on opposite sides of the screen, and while each side takes turns fighting, the attacking troops do so as a unit rather than alone.
