The original version of Splashdown was available for the PlayStation 2 and the Xbox. Splashdown: Rides Gone Wild is the sequel to that game. Even though it continues to emphasize racing, this sequel distinguishes itself from its predecessor by featuring stages that are themed after amusement parks. The previous game was set on traditional water racing tracks. The thrill ride circuits in the game are dynamic, meaning that they alter gradually from one lap to the next as the protagonists drive through them. This makes the gameplay far less mechanical and more diverse.
The game retains a significant number of the game’s original modes and presents them in a more conventional order. For example, the “career” mode enables players to rack up points that can be redeemed for in-game unlockables such as new playable characters or cars. The Training, Arcade, and Versus modes are all included in this package.
