Starsky & Hutch is an arcade racing game based on the classic 1970s TV show, released to coincide with the film. Each task in the game is based on a TV show episode and is introduced by Antonio ‘Huggy Bear’ Fargas. There is also a free-roaming option in which the player explores the GTA-like world in search of action and danger.

The game, like the movies, does not play things entirely straight. Starsky and Hutch are filming a TV show, and the ratings for each assignment indicate how good your driving is. You are awarded gold, silver, or bronze medals for each mission based on your performance, and you must get at least 1 gold and 2 silvers in season 1 to be commissioned for a second season, and 3 golds and 2 silvers in season 2 to play through a third.

The overarching purpose of each mission is often to pursue and destroy a criminal’s vehicle, and a supplementary aim is always present. Furthermore, the player will gain spectators for hitting the lousy guy, performing fancy jumps and skids, almost hitting pedestrians, and hitting different targets, such as canisters strewn across the courses. Hitting civilians will result in a loss of views.

Ken ‘Hutch’ Hutchinson blasts through the automobile windows while Dave Starsky sits behind the wheel. A second player can take care of the shooting on the PS2 and XBox by utilizing either a light gun or a regular controller. For shooting in a single-player, the targeting is automatic.
