Sunny Garcia Surfing is an updated and improved surfing simulation that brings you to twelve different locations where you will ride the ocean’s massive waves. The gameplay is based on the one in Krome’s Championship Surfer, which Sunny Garcia Surfing builds upon.
You can control one of eight great surfers, such as Sunny Garcia, Tim Reyes, Rochelle Ballard, and others, as they ride waves on beaches that are known all over the world. The technique of video motion capture was utilized to mimic the characteristics of each surfer and their unique moves. However, as you progress through the game and earn more experience and points, you can unlock additional courses and surfers previously unavailable to you. You can also acquire different types of surfboards, each of which has the potential to alter your performance.
There are various game types, including Free Surf, Time Attack, King of the Waves, and Championship. Each mode has different difficulty settings, and you have some control over the size of the waves and the weather effects in various ways.
The analog stick is used to control both speed and direction, and some buttons may be used to perform tricks, such as paddling, diving, and cutbacks. More than fifty different maneuvers are available to be done by each surfer, with the most complex maneuvers being worth the most points.
Most of the music on the soundtrack was legally licensed and produced by well-known punk rock bands. In addition to the game for a single player, Sunny Garcia Surfing features a multiplayer mode that allows players to compete against a single friend or up to eight other players by utilizing two multi-taps on the Playstation 2.
