Transformers: The Game, based on the 2007 film, casts players as either the Autobot or Decepticon factions in search of the AllSpark, the item that gives life to their race. The Autobots want to use their power for good, while the Decepticons want it for evil. The two groups fought on Cybertron, but the Autobots launched the AllSpark into orbit to preserve it, where it remained hidden on Earth. When the Decepticons find the site, they intend to end the war on Earth.
Players can pick between two teams, each with different story-based aims, in a 3D sandbox world with the ability to interact with and destroy the environment. These are located in various locations and include both core and additional quests. The heroic Autobots’ backstory is based on the plot and events of the original film. On the other hand, the wicked Decepticons’ storyline permits the robots to destroy both the planet and their enemies more aggressively. Players can select characters such as Optimus Prime or Bumblebee from the Autobot roster or Megatron and Starscream from the Decepticon list.
The robots can transform between robot and vehicle/aircraft forms, jump, block, dive underground, roll, dodge, use numerous weapons, and climb buildings, as seen from a third-person perspective. The skill tracker can be used to unlock particular actions. Long slides or jumps cause symbols in the tracker to light up and provide extras.
Various souvenirs can be collected along the route, from promotional photos and artwork to playable copies of the original “Generation 1” characters. The general gameplay is the same across all platforms. However, various elements are exclusive to specific versions.
