World Championship Snooker 2002 includes a variety of gameplay modes, including a career mode, a quick start style, a single match mode, a tournament mode, and a unique mode that modifies the game’s regulations. Training that covers the fundamentals of the game is the first step in the career mode. Several aiming guides, similar to those seen in the last installment of this series, are available for players to switch on to see in which direction they are shooting and where the balls will bounce after being hit.
In the tournaments of career mode, there are a total of 65 opponents to overcome. When a player has reached the top 30 in the standings, they will be invited to participate in the more prestigious championship. This collection includes several professional players, including Ronnie O’Sullivan, Mark Williams, and Stephen Hendry, among others.
