The game starts when a bartender disappears in 2012. He used a device called Animus to access the memory in the past. Therefore, he plays the role of the ancestor, an assassin named Altaïr. This happens because the kidnappers need his memories. From 1191 in the Holy Land, during the Third Crusade, Altaïr is ordered to kill nine important people that cause war and corruption. The gameplay combines modern knowledge with a powerful assassin. At the same time, the game offers free movement and choice, so players can make some performances on the buildings. Players can find many ways to complete missions and gather information. Therefore, they can choose how to approach targets.
