The game story begins in Prisma City when a priest wants to rig elections and gain power. He works for the INKT Corporation with the goal of draining color from cities and people. Therefore, the protagonist and his partner must free lands and rescue allies by bringing back color and stopping INKT. The game keeps color-changing mechanics from the first versions when allowing Blob to absorb paint and color the world. In addition, players can play with others in the new competitive multiplayer and co-op modes. To face the stronger enemies, the game has power-ups with new upgraded attacks. When entering buildings, the gameplay shifts to 2D. Platform challenges must be completed to take over buildings.
