DeathSpank follows Gilbert when he participates in hack-and-slash gameplay. Players slay monsters and collect loot to acquire Weapons of Justice. At the same time, all weapons can perform powerful attacks when the energy bar is filled. The game gives players a long journey when they must complete 100 quests besides side quests. Conversations use dialog trees like classic adventure games, and some of them are funny and unrelated challenges. Puzzles involve finding and combining items. The game has a unique art style. The world is full of strange monsters. When the challenge is so difficult, local co-op is available. A second player can join as Sparkles the Wizard, who has a fixed ability to support the protagonist well.
