A massive explosion destroys parts of Empire City, but happily, Cole MacGrath survives and gains electric powers. Due to a sickness in the city, street gangs take control, and people blame Cole for the explosion. He must choose between using his powers for good or evil. Cole can become a superhero or a villain. inFAMOUS is an action game in an open city. Players control Cole to discover his abilities. Their actions determine if Cole becomes admired or feared, with reactions of citizens based on his reputation. The game is single-player with a fully explorable Empire City. A karma meter tracks good and bad deeds. In particular, experience points improve powers, but some upgrades require specific karma levels. Cole needs electricity to recharge, which can be challenging during power outages.
