Despite the added different elements, Pac-Man Championship Edition DX retains the gameplay of the original version. Ghosts abound in the maze. When you pass, they form a line and follow you. A power pellet can be eaten to earn points to quicken the pace of the game. To make the level easier, you can make two defensive maneuvers. Specially, ghosts are sent to the center when you use a bomb. The game will slow down when you are close to a ghost to keep you from losing. Both game modes and visual styles are varied, with neon graphics and fast-paced music. There are also allusions to previous game titles. Nine different maze kinds exist, including Spiral and Highway. You can try ghost combo mode and time trials to show your strategy skills or play the return score assault for five or ten minutes.
