Rock Band expands on Guitar Hero’s concept by allowing up to four players to form a virtual band. Players can use guitar, drum, or microphone peripherals to hit scrolling notes or matching vocal pitches. To earn cash, the game offers Solo Tour and Band World Tour modes. From there, you can customize your characters based on appearance, instruments, and stage movements. Success depends on reaching a set score through combined performances. Players can be locked out if they fail. Other band members can revive them using Overdrive. The Tour Mode features 41 venues in 17 cities. Venues are unlocked by gaining fans. Players can lose fans for poor performances. The game includes competition for managers, roadies, and record deals. Players can create custom setlists. Multipliers increase scores for perfect play. The game replaces Star Power with Overdrive, which fills when players make no mistakes in certain sections.
