The tale of Soul Edge and Soul Calibur continues when they seek to bring back a legendary ruler. Players need to thwart this terrible scheme. With improvements, the game offers 3D blade fighting gameplay, and destructible armor from the first game is back. The new Soul Gauge gauges the degree of defense, and Critical Finish moves come from Soul Crush. In particular, most of the usual cast returns but only on consoles are Yoda and Darth Vader. The two new characters are Hilde and Algol, so there are five extra characters in all. Conventional modes are still available, but Tower of Lost Souls replaces Chronicles of the Sword. Regular and unique varieties exist for the Versus mode. With ranked and unranked matches, online play helps characters experience thrilling battles and make gear stronger.
