A prisoner’s fate changes when Emperor Uriel Septim flees into the dungeon. The emperor is killed, but he entrusts the prisoner with the Amulet of Kings. The prisoner must find the emperor’s illegitimate son to save Tamriel from Mehrunes Dagon. Oblivion features action combat and free-roaming environments. In the beginning, players choose their race and class and develop multiple skills. In particular, these skills improve through the use and training offered by NPCs. Enemies level up with the player, so side quests help improve abilities and gain fame. Players can explore towns, forts, and ruins with fast travel that allows quick movement between locations. Shrines grant special skills. Weapons and armor need to be repaired and enhanced to receive various benefits. Mana regenerates over time, and active blocking is available in combat. The game has full voice acting and an AI system for NPC behavior.
