Unlike the previous titles that were action RPGs set in large open worlds, Mirage is described as a return to the series’ roots, with a smaller location and a focus on storytelling, stealth, parkour, assassinations and close-quarter combat. Over the course of the game Basim transitions from a street thief to a fully-fledged member of the Assassin Brotherhood.
