Chaos; Head is an adventure game that can be played on the PSP, PC, PS3, and X360. 5pb. and Nitroplus worked together to make the game. Fans of both visual novels and Japanese pop culture know who these people are. The developers have made a lot of console games, but only a few have come out in the West. Chaos; Head is the first book in the sci-fi adventure series whose titles always have a semicolon. The games in this series are set in modern Japan and have only a loose connection to each other. In their story, they use ideas from urban legends and conspiracy theories and ideas about how technology is changing and how scientists are experimenting.

Plot

Chaos; Head took place in the Shibuya neighborhood of Tokyo in 2009. The game’s creators ensured players see the most important places in Japan’s capital. Takumi Nishijo is the main character. He goes to Suimei private high school. Takumi is a typical otaku who spends most of his free time playing online games and chatting online. One day, a stranger sends him pictures of a brutal murder, which shocks the boy. The next day, Takumi sees the crime he had seen on the computer screen in real life. Terrified, he loses his senses and is on the edge of going crazy, no longer able to tell the difference between his dreams and the real world.

Mechanics

How you play is not very different from other visual novels. Most of the game is spent reading on-screen texts and listening to recorded dialogues. These are accompanied by two-dimensional graphics showing where the action takes place and how the characters interact with the Hero. From time to time, players are asked to make choices that affect how the story goes and lead to one of the possible endings. Aside from this choice, the authors also gave the reader another way to change the story. Sometimes, the top of the screen will show two tags, one green, and one red. The player can choose which one to play. They show how Takumi feels at the time. A happy, often funny version of the scene will play if we choose green. Because red is an unstable state, a lot of violence and strange things are happening. The story goes on its usual path if you don’t choose a marker.

How things work

Chaos; Head’s graphics are made up of flat portraits of the characters and backgrounds that show the insides and streets of Tokyo. Most of the dialogue was recorded by actors who were paid to do it. Depending on how Takumi feels, they are accompanied by music that sets the right mood and creates the right atmosphere.
