The Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower is the conclusion of Capcom’s Darkstalkers series, a spin-off of their Street Fighter franchise. The Darkstalkers series differentiated itself by providing a unique cast of characters inspired by nearly every classic movie monster. The gameplay features a similar style of one-on-one 2D fighter gameplay, focusing heavily on varied kicks, punches, and special moves differentiating each fighter. Darkstalkers also features a similar type of head-to-head 2D fighter gameplay.
The game is a port of Vampire Chronicle For Matching Service, first released for the Dreamcast console. It brings together every playable character from the series in a single match, unique interpretations of well-known monsters, and every distinct gameplay style from the series. In addition to this, there are also new gameplay options available to choose from. One of them is called the Chaos Tower, and it requires the player to choose three characters, then climb the ranks of the tower by completing the various challenges presented to them. The other three are referred to as Arcade, Training, and Chronicle.
Multiplayer can be accessed in the Network mode through WiFi, in the normal versus methods, and as a league mode, in which up to four players compete against one another in a setting reminiscent of a tournament.
