The game Heatseeker is an arcade aerial blaster in which the player pilots approximately 40 fully-licensed modern jet fighters at supersonic speeds, shooting massive quantities of missiles at vast numbers of enemy planes, tanks, ships, cruise missiles, and anything else that appears to need to be shown a lesson. Heatseeker also features a variety of other vehicles, including cruise missiles and cruise tanks. It contains the ImpactCam, which allows you to observe the results of your damage up close and personal. This eliminates the need for the long-distance ‘blip killing’ typically in other flight games.

Players assume the character of Mike “Downtown” Hudson, a pilot for the International Council’s Air Force. Mike flies for the International Council. You are a member of the response force assembled to combat seagoing and aerial adversaries to avert a global crisis caused by a dictator’s terrorist strike. The missions are carried out in a variety of settings all across the world.

The arcade mode of Heatseeker features an unlimited supply of ammo, high kill counts, a vibrant and oversaturated visual style, and exaggerated characters and situations.

Players of the Wii version can control the game’s aircraft using their bodies in various ways. You can control the plane with the Wii remote (which acts as a pointer) or with the Nunchuk (which acts as a flying stick).

The PSP version is the only one supporting multiplayer games, which can have up to four players and five game modes. These game types are as follows: Dogfight, Team Dogfight, Base vs. Base, Fox & Hounds, and Last Man Flying. The PSP version only features text for voice-overs.
