The Major League Baseball video game series continued in 2009 with the release of MLB 09: The Show. The gameplay is essentially the same as in earlier versions, but it has been refined, added new features, and improved graphics. Road to the Show 3.0 has been enhanced with a brand-new steal and lead-off system and more opportunities for players to communicate with their respective coaches. A player’s franchise can now have a 40-man roster and other new features such as salary arbitration, waiver trades, September call-ups, and more. Franchise 2.0 also includes several more new features. Online season leagues, complete with full drafts and schedules to play ahead in the season, are one of the new features introduced in this edition.
