This version of Monster Hunter is a port of the game Monster Hunter G, which was only available in Japan. Monster Hunter G is a sequel to the first Monster Hunter game; it’s more like a director’s cut of the game. A significant portion of the game is very similar to the version available on the Playstation 2, although many new elements have been included. You now have access to a greater variety of quests, monsters, weapons, and armor, as well as more regions surrounding the town from which to choose and exploit for your benefit.

You now possess a farm located on the city’s outskirts. You will have access to a garden, mining veins, places to capture bugs, a pier for fishing, and bug-capturing sites. This implies that you can now gather resources while you are in between missions. This does not eliminate the need to collect things when you are on the hunt; however, it makes it less of a headache. The training school is yet another optional supplementary area. In this area, you can participate in hunts with predetermined parameters, such as the layout of your items and equipment and the need to kill larger animals within a shorter time. It is difficult to say, but this also opens the possibility of developing highly unique and potent new weaponry.

Later on in the game, you will have the opportunity to participate in some highly challenging hunts. When it comes to the new monsters, they range from having new colors (along with new armor options to match) to being entirely new monsters (such as a war-weary wyvern with a significant amount of malicious intent). You can build new armor from these new species, and in some circumstances, you can make more armor from traditional monsters. This additional feature comes with the game, and it adds to the game’s overall value.

On the PSP, the control scheme is a tiny bit different. Even though the PSP is missing two shoulder buttons and a second analog stick, gamers may still control the action by pressing two face buttons rather than swinging the right analog bat. While you are holding down the right shoulder button, you can block assaults (or charge up to attack if you are using a hammer), as well as use the Triangle, Circle, and Triangle and Circle combinations to unleash three distinct sorts of attacks. The only mode available for multiplayer is Ad-Hoc, meaning players cannot go online to organize a hunt together.
