Princess Crown is a port of a game of the same name released for the Sega Saturn platform. The plot transports us to a fantastical realm that will soon be ruled by a young princess named Gradriel. However, the child heir to the kingdom dislikes court conventions and resolves to leave the palace toto battle the evil spreading brazenly across the land, following in her mother’s footsteps.

The application combines an arcade game and a cRPG replacement, i.e., hack-and-slash. No significant changes were made to the original, but the language was adjusted, and a sound and image gallery was added, pleasing the eyes and ears. The gameplay focuses on exploring new regions, visiting multiple cities, utilizing objects, conversing with characters – whom you can also meet inside buildings – and defeating increasingly powerful foes. This affects Gradriel’s evolution, which is represented by obtaining new experience levels. Several heroes assist with the primary objective, and the dispersed books about the realm are utilized to unlock them. Each of these heroes possesses distinct abilities and side missions.

The fighting mechanism appears to be intriguing. The screen of a conflict is surprisingly reminiscent of an old school of Japanese fights when you confront unwelcome company on the Road. Several light effects were mixed with the equilibristic movements of the actors involved in the conflict. In addition to combinations that can surprise his opponents, the player also has special punches that require recharging.

Princess Crown utilizes a two-dimensional setting. The most eye-catching aspect of the game is the characters’ oversized silhouettes. There are traces of symphonic sound in the used music.
