Tales of Eternia is similar to the Tales series in general. At the beginning of the game, there will be a world map to navigate from the current location to the position to be on duty. NPCs are usually concentrated in cities and towns, which also provide valuable information to trigger in-game events. Merchants in the city will exchange Gald – the currency – to get back items or equipment to help complete the task. There are formulas to create pharmaceuticals, energy supplements, … try to learn and Craft them for use throughout the game. Pharmaceutical strengthens and heals wounds in combat. Fight with enemies through the Linear Motion Battle System – a battle system that combines fighting games and traditional role-playing elements. Motion and attack are done in real-time, using fixed combinations, skillfully controlling the character to win. Because only one character can be controlled directly at a time, all other characters are automatically computer adapted to the character you control. The battle can be temporarily suspended to use different menus such as using items, creating new spells, changing character equipment, etc. The computer-controlled characters can also operate in the direction of you choose from the menu.
