Desmond Miles, the last of the ancient order of Assassins, has been caught by the modern-day descendants of the Templars and forced to relive previous events through a technology known as Animus to gain vital information. One of the scientists, however, abruptly flips sides, begging Desmond to put his trust in her and follow her out of the compound. Soon, they escape the prison and join up with new allies who want to utilize Desmond’s expertise against the Templars. Their latest device, Animus 2.0, is an improved version of the first. This time, Desmond reenacts the life of Ezio Auditore di Firenze, a guy who lived in 15th-century Italy.

Ezio is a noisy, reckless young man who enjoys picking fights and chasing skirts. But everything changes when his father and younger brother are executed publically by a guy he trusts. Driven by vengeance, Ezio continues learning more about his father’s life and finds that he belongs to the Assassins organization. Ezio develops into a skilled assassin, willing to go to any length to avenge the deaths of those he cares about.

Assassin’s Creed II is a free-roaming action game with gameplay elements similar to its predecessor. The game’s events occur in Florence, Venice, Rome, and other Italian cities. Famous historical individuals from the period, such as Leonardo da Vinci, Niccol Machiavelli, Cesare Borgia, and others, play an active role in the game’s scenario. The game depicts the authentic cultural and political atmosphere of the Italian Renaissance, as well as inaccurate descriptions of events, alternate history, and metaphysical beliefs.

The main gameplay is similar to the previous game. On foot or horseback, the protagonist can freely explore numerous huge cities and rural areas. In the game, you may also swim and navigate boats. Almost every building can be climbed on, and the protagonist can ascend the highest rooftops while using his Eagle Vision to observe the scenery. The gameplay revolves heavily around free-form jumping and sprinting.

Absent in the original game, the finance system is one of the sequel’s most significant innovations. Items, weapons, and armor can be purchased and repaired for a fee. There are numerous additional weapon types, as well as individual weapons and armor, in the game. Ezio carries swords, daggers, throwing knives, smoke bombs, a pistol, and many forms of upgradeable armor. Weapons can be obtained from fallen adversaries and used in the same combat. Many riches can be acquired from numerous locations throughout the game environment.

In this sequel, there are new methods to be covert. Ezio can hire courtesans to distract guards, mercenaries to combat them, or thieves to create a distraction. The mission objectives and the actions required to complete them are notably more diversified than in the previous game. The protagonist is frequently given new equipment and challenges to try out. Several of these are designed as mini-games; for example, Ezio will operate a flying device at one point. In the game, the main character has his headquarters, a mansion with a tiny town attached. It is possible to put money into the town’s reconstruction and customize the residence.

The game has a much greater number of side quests than its predecessor. A series of sub-quests entails tracking down, collecting, and analyzing ancient words of wisdom said to hold the secret to the cosmos. These missions frequently require crossing complex indoor platform environments to achieve the destination. Like modern Prince of Persia games, these sections involve accurate leaping and incorporate modest puzzle-solving aspects.
